Former Telstra CISO joins Toll

Transport and logistics company finds its global head of infosec

Australian transportation and logistics company Toll, has hired former Telstra CISO, Berin Lautenbach as its new global head of information security.

The new appointment comes off the back of Toll’s announcement in July that it was looking to recruit a global head of IT security operations. The recruitment is one of the first steps the company is taking to accelerate cyber security at the company, following an attack in May.

In a LinkedIn post Toll stated cyber security is a fast-changing, complex landscape, being a key issue for businesses everywhere.

According to Toll it was delighted to welcome Lautenbach as its global head of information security. “In this critical role, Berin will drive our cyber resiliency program across the organisation, protecting the privacy and security of our customers, people and business,” stated Toll.

Up until June this year, Lautenbach was the CISO APAC for Telstra. He joined the Telco in 2015 as general manager security operations.

He also has 24 years’ experience in cyber security, with an extensive and diverse background having started his career at the Department of Defence before moving into the private sector where he worked for large companies including NAB and GE Capital.

“We’re really looking forward to having Berin on the team. This is an important part of the future roadmap for our security program and I believe Berin’s extensive experience will help set Toll up for a strong future in this ever-growing area of IT,” said King Lee, CIO at Toll Group.
