Working in London for an investment management firm headquartered in US, with office in APAC.
US Investment management firm, Capital Group has brought on Marta Zarraga as its global CIO, overseeing technology and cyber security.
Zarraga has 25 years of industry experience and previously served as global CIO for Aviva. She also served as CIO at Vodafone and British Telecom.
“Technology is foundational to Capital Group’s business. As the company continues to focus on expanding and strengthening its services to investors, data and technology remain critical enablers,” she said. “It is a phenomenal opportunity to join a company that is so committed to its mission of improving people’s lives through successful investing and so committed to its associates, and I am excited to leverage new technologies to help achieve that mission.”
Zarraga was selected following a global search based on her exceptional technical qualifications, strong experience driving business value through technology, and focus on developing successful and diverse teams.
Zarraga holds a master’s degree in computer engineering from Universidad de Deusto in Spain.
Currently Capital Group has firms in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Japan and Taiwan – as well as Europe and North America.
According to an article in Forbes, Zarrage’s situation will be “unusual” as she “for the time being”, “will be based in London, whereas Capital Group’s headquarters is in Los Angeles”.
Zarraga told Forbes that she rises early, and often takes meetings with colleagues in Europe or Asia, two areas of strategic focus for growth for Capital Group, during her early morning hours.
“If I only have 30 minutes on a video conference without any time before or after that meeting, I need to focus on what we need to accomplish to a greater extent,” she noted.
