Showcasing cutting-edge military technologies
The Department of Defense and the Indiana National Guard have announced the hosting of the Technology Readiness Experimentation 2023 (TREX23-1) showcase at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, from May 16 to 24, 2023. TREX is part of the Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER) initiative and serves as a campaign of experimentation to support joint requirements and accelerate technology transition to the field.
TREX23-1 is a full-scale exercise that will feature tactical scenario demonstrations and a Prototype Technology Display. The scenario portion of the event will assess six technologies in a “disaster scenario” that requires the establishment of resilient communications. The assessed technologies include signal devices, cyber protection, counterintelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, all of which are crucial for operating in the scenario and ensuring the safety of operators and successful evacuation of non-combatants.
The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit will also participate in TREX23-1 as part of its Composite Unit Training Exercise in preparation for an upcoming deployment. This participation will strengthen Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence (C5I) capabilities.
The Prototype Technology Display will provide an opportunity for large and small businesses to showcase innovative prototypes aligned with RDER Joint Warfighting Concepts. The display will focus on military technologies related to fires, command and control, logistics, and capabilities that drive information advantage. This portion of the event will contribute to the development of front-line military technologies and allow companies to shape their future.
TREX23-1 expects participation from over 30 industry and government organizations, providing a venue for joint innovation and generating real-world data for future warfighting concept development.
