Enabling a deeper exploration of smart facilities management, leveraging StarHub 5G and IoT.
Aligned by a common vision to enhance living, working, and learning with digital technologies, StarHub and the National University of Singapore (NUS) today announced a collaboration to incorporate StarHub’s latest 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions into the University’s smart campus innovations, supporting the University’s goal of becoming a Smart, Safe and Sustainable campus.
Through ‘live’ trials over a two-year period, StarHub and NUS will exchange knowledge, identify gaps, and co-develop solutions in smart campus facilities management. The partnership has hit the ground running with the deployment of StarHub 5G Standalone (SA) services and Singapore’s first 100% solar-powered campus WiFi by StarHub 5G within NUS.
Supported by the enhanced infrastructure, StarHub and NUS are now working on a variety of 5G and IoT applications that will further improve the management of outdoor campus facilities operations. Enabled by StarHub’s 5G IoT platform service, the joint exploration will bolster the University’s ability to manage campus facilities more efficiently, drawing from ‘live’ data which can be consolidated from a network of sensors regardless of the number, type, or brand.
The wide variety of 5G and IoT use cases in smart facilities management include building facade inspection, housekeeping and landscape management, waste management, security management, and augmented/virtual reality applications, using the campus as an immersive classroom for sustainability education.

StarHub and NUS intend to set up a pop-up showcase in the first half of 2022, for faculty, partners, and students to visualise and experience the enhancements to campus life brought about by the joint work on 5G innovation.
