Digital capabilities to help customers during pandemic.
Financial services corporation, Manulife Hong Kong said a global pandemic hasn’t stopped it from enhanced its digital capabilities and remote purchase arrangements to help customers obtain appropriate protection, overcoming the constraints associated with social distancing.
According to a report of its financial earnings for the second quarter and first half of 2020, the company was one of the first insurers in the city to make available a virtual face-to-face sales platform for its agency force in June 2020.
This online platform enables customers to purchase the entire range of Manulife’s individual insurance products other than Investment-linked Assurance Scheme.
Damien Green, chief executive officer of Manulife Hong Kong and Macau said its latest financial results shows its focus to help our customers navigate the challenges they face in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have leveraged the strength and agility of our agency force to better serve customer needs during this unprecedented period,” he said. “We had a very strong close in the month of June with a rebound in insurance sales, reflecting the continued demand for health and retirement products.
We remain committed to driving our digital capabilities and are actively looking for opportunities to drive strategic initiatives that can benefit customers in Hong Kong, Macau and the Greater Bay Area.”
Earlier in July Manulife Hong Kong appointed Anthony Buchanan as its CIO, as well as three other C-level executives to help strengthen the company’s leadership capabilities and drive its strategic initiatives in Hong Kong, Macau, and the Greater Bay Area.
As CIO Buchanan will be responsible for charting Manulife Hong Kong’s overall IT strategy and delivering IT programs to meet business outcomes, ensuring stability and reliability of the company’s systems, and addressing control, security, and risk matters.
Manulife stated, “he has played a pivotal role steering the Hong Kong and Macau business through the COVID-19 pandemic by astute deployment of technology and delivery of the company’s virtual-face-to-face agency sales platform.”
Previously, Buchanan was the head of operations and IT performance for Manulife Asia, responsible for the governance, control and rigour of the business functions.
