Apple announced its new iPhone 13 series of phones.
Apple’s newly released iPhone 13 will be a boost for 5G adoption. Unlike Android, iOS users lack a strong selection of 5G devices. The iPhone 13 family is a welcome addition for consumers looking to upgrade. Rival Samsung has a robust selection of 5G phones across price tiers and is top of mind at operators that are aggressively pushing 5G services – especially in the US.
At US$799, the price for the base iPhone 13 model is the same as the older iPhone 12 but adds double the storage memory, said Anisha Bhatia, Senior Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
“The phones include a faster A15 Bionic chip, improved durability with a ceramic shield display, bigger battery, and camera and video upgrades, including the addition of ProMotion refresh on the Pro models, which should encourage upgrades.
“Apple devoted a chunk of time during each product announcement to talk about the sustainability of that device. Apple has pledged to be 100 per cent carbon neutral for its supply chain and products by 2030. Apple’s iPhones are its biggest revenue generators, accounting for 40 per cent to 50 per cent of the company’s overall returns, and Apple has a substantial installed base waiting to upgrade. With massive promotions offering the phones for US$0 to US$100, the iPhone 13 will continue the 5G supercycle that started with the iPhone 12.”
The newly released iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, features innovations, including the most advanced dual-camera system ever on iPhone — with a new Wide camera with bigger pixels and sensor-shift optical image stabilisation (OIS) offering improvements in low-light photos and videos, a new way to personalise the camera with Photographic Styles, and Cinematic mode, which brings a new dimension to video storytelling.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini also boast super-fast performance and power efficiency with A15 Bionic, longer battery life, a brighter Super Retina XDR display that brings content to life, incredible durability with the Ceramic Shield front cover, double the entry-level storage at 128GB, an industry-leading IP68 rating for water resistance, and an advanced 5G experience.
