Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit system operator looking for start-up

Start-up program to last six months with selected start-up to partner with operator.

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), operator of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit system has launched an accelerator program for start-ups – named MRTJ ACCEL.

The program will last six months, and selected start-ups will have access to Jakarta MRT service users; station facilities; ratangga; and areas in transit-oriented areas around the station.

The start-up company will also receive assistance from the internal team of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) and a number of founders and pioneers of startups and venture capital companies in Indonesia.

William Sabandar director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) said the program will start opening on eighth June 2020.

“This program aims to create beneficial cooperation for these companies and start-ups. And, of course, it will have a good impact on increasing revenue, branding), to the experience of Jakarta MRT service users, “he said. “In addition, the start-up will get many benefits through this collaboration such as increasing value because potential investors will see Jakarta MRT as an attractive partner.

According to Sabandar, by gaining access to the Jakarta MRT ecosystem, continued William, start-ups could develop new ideas from existing learning and then apply them during the acceleration program.

As one of the first rail-based urban mass transportation company in Indonesia, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has a mandate to develop its business, one of which is through non-ticket revenue such as telecommunications, station naming rights, retail, and advertising.

In addition, the company is always looking for and developing new business opportunities, one of which is through a partnership program with this start-up.
