HammondCare brings onboard Australia’s CIO of the year

Australian-based healthcare charity gets a new CIO.

HammondCare is pleased to announce the appointment of new Chief Information Officer, John Sutherland, Australia’s CIO of the Year, joining from Ramsay Health Care and formerly of Cochlear.

With an impressive track record of delivering strategic objectives for complex global companies and with passionate commitment to healthcare, Sutherland joins HammondCare at a critical point in its development.

CEO Mike Baird said he is delighted to welcome Sutherland to HammondCare, as the leading health and aged care charity continues significant investment in technology to support care delivery across its services, consistent with its Next Chapter strategy.

“John has been at the forefront of implementing advanced technological solutions for healthcare delivery on a global scale. His personal faith, and genuine commitment to improving quality of life for those in need are deeply aligned with HammondCare’s mission,” Baird said.

“HammondCare is expanding its commitment to digitising many key processes to better support our frontline care teams and the people we serve across health and aged care. John’s expertise and experience will be invaluable.”

Sutherland said he was drawn to HammondCare for its outstanding mission and legacy of care over nearly 90 years, and the opportunity to be part of an exciting new phase of growth for the organisation.

“I am incredibly thankful for my time with Ramsay but equally thankful for this new opportunity, as HammondCare pursues its ambition to set the global standard of relationship-based care for people with complex needs, and to care for those others can’t or won’t.

“I look forward to working with the committed and talented team at HammondCare and together developing world class approaches to health and aged care technology.”

Sutherland will begin with HammondCare in September and is based in Sydney.
