Virgin Australia’s CIO flies off to TEG

Going from CIO to CTO

Live entertainment, ticketing and technology business company – TEG has hired Cameron Stone as its chief technology officer.

Stone will lead the team charged with evolving and executing the global live entertainment, venue and ticketing company’s technology capability and investments.

Before taking on the position, for five years Stone was the CIO at Virgin Australia and two years as general manager technology and strategy and investment.

During his tenure Stone delivered some of the largest technology platform transformations in the airline’s history and was a member of the executive leadership team.

Stone has worked across industries including aviation, financial services, health and in these roles has developed industry-leading experience running mission critical technology platforms, working with global vendors and leveraging data for strategic benefit. He was previously CIO and SVP at Aurizon.

In 2018, Stone told Travel Weekly, that “using technology to streamline the customer journey is a huge priority” for the airline at the time.

“Since Amazon Echo and Alexa-enabled devices launched in Australia, Virgin Australia has been exploring new ways to make it easier for our customers to travel with us through emerging technology,” he said.

“Allowing our passengers to check-in for their flight with Amazon Alexa is a very exciting addition to our existing skill in the Alexa Skills Store.
