Queensland Govt. looks for CIO to manage ICT at the QBCC

The Information Services department consists of Infrastructure, Systems and Records teams.

Australia’s Queensland Government is looking to hire a CIO, who will lead and manage the information services team for the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).

Reporting to the Commissioner, the CIO will lead and manage the Information Services team to enable the QBCC to achieve strategic and operational goals.

The Information Services department consists of Infrastructure, Systems and Records teams.

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission’s (QBCC) overarching role is to ensure the probity and integrity of the building and construction sector in Queensland.

The QBCC supports the growing Queensland community by providing information, advice, and regulation to ensure the maintenance of proper building standards so as to promote confidence in the building and construction industry.
Led by the Commissioner and governed by a board, the QBCC consists of a skilled and expert team of staff that work hard to meet the needs of industry participants and the community. The QBCC has an important task in serving customers, contributing to the growth of the Queensland economy, and regulating the industry.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, direction and management on the development, implementation and maintenance of QBCC’s information management strategies, systems, policies and practices in accordance with the Queensland Government ICT strategy.
  • Providing expert and strategic advice to management and Board Committees on issues, risks and opportunities relating to information and technology management.
  • Providing leadership, vision and management to the IS team of all IS activities and services that support and align to QBCC strategic plan, and meet or exceed KPI’s, SLA’s and targets within approved budgets.
  • Ensuring the provision of effective, consistent and timely performance metrics and reporting to assist strategic decisions and direction setting.
  • Managing QBCC’s information, technology, support, systems and networks including, Applications management and software development, Business analysis and re-engineering, Technology and Application support / maintenance, Infrastructure management, Telephony, and Records management.
  • Creating and maintaining highly professional, customer oriented, innovative and future-focused information and technology capability.
  • Ensuring that appropriate governance frameworks and tools are in place to meet or exceed relevant compliance requirements, privacy and security requirements and business continuity needs of the QBCC.

QBCC is looking for a CIO who will possess exceptional leadership skills and can clearly develop and translate the Commission’s objectives, policies, plans and strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

They also need a strong sense of judgement, strong business acumen and astute decision-making skills along with a strong customer service ethos are imperative to the success of this role.
They need to be an outstanding leader, who has analytical capacity, intuitive risk awareness and decisiveness to develop innovative strategies, plans and projects to achieve priorities within strict timeframes. It is a given that you will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills along with relevant tertiary professional qualifications.
