Hong Kong government announces CITID

Members of the CITID are representatives and experts from many industries

The Government promulgated the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint (the Blueprint) on December 22, 2022, and announced that the CITID would be set up to enhance the co-operation among stakeholders and help drive the development of innovation and technology (I&T) in Hong Kong. The CITID is chaired by the Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry.

The CITID will advise the Government on the strategic development of I&T in Hong Kong, focusing on the following:

  • the focus areas, priorities and key performance indicators for facilitating the development of the I&T industry in Hong Kong along the directions and strategies set out in the Blueprint;
  • strategies and measures to promote research and development in Hong Kong and to encourage commercialisation of research outcomes;
  • strategies and measures to nurture, attract and retain I&T talent;
  • strategies and measures to develop key I&T infrastructure; and
  • strategies and measures to promote new industrialisation in Hong Kong.

Members of the CITID mainly comprise representatives and experts from academia, information technology, industry and other relevant sectors, and relevant government officials. They are appointed by the Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry for a period of two years.
