Private Lunch

May 12 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Protecting Critical Infrastructure & Services of National Significance. Is your organisation ready?

Trigged by an increased volume of cyber-attacks on government and private sector entities, the federal government is looking to implement an enhanced regulatory framework under the ‘Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018’.  The goal is to enhance the cyber security obligations of critical entities deemed most important to the nation and includes Banking & Finance, Communications, Defence, Education, Energy, Food & grocery, Health, Space, Transport and Water.  It’s deemed that a disruption to any of these services due to a cyber-attack could result in cascading consequences to the economy, security and sovereignty of the nation.

Many of these critical businesses and services collect and store a wealth of data about their customers and use highly interconnected applications and systems that in many cases also make use of extensive IT automation. This makes them a prime target for cyber-attack, the impact of which can be crippling to both the entity and the broader Australian population.

This session will table some of the common attack vectors being used by nation state actors and organised cybercrime groups, what risks and typical impact these pose to your business and what can be done to mitigate these risks.  It offers the opportunity for industry peers and experts to exchange ideas and knowledge about the most effective approaches to identify, respond to and prevent cyber-attacks.

Focus Network in partnership with Imperva will be inviting an elite group of leading IT Security leaders from across Australia to attend this private lunch and table some of the common attack vectors being used by nation state actors and organised cybercrime groups, what risks and typical impact these pose to your business and what can be done to mitigate these risks.  It offers the opportunity for industry peers and experts to exchange ideas and knowledge about the most effective approaches to identify, respond to and prevent cyber-attacks.

Some of the key areas that will be covered off include:

  • Understanding the key enhancements being proposed to the ‘Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018’
  • How these enhancements translate into obligations for your business to uplift cyber defence controls.
  • Understanding common attacks used against critical infrastructure targets.
  • What systems, processes and technology are effective at mitigating such attacks.
