The ACSC has released updated guidance to help all Australians better understand how social media and messaging apps can pose a risk to the security and privacy of individuals and organisations. These risks include the exploitation of personal information, the collection of users’ data, and identify theft, fraud, reputational damage.

This updated guidance – Security Tips for social media and Messaging Apps – provides an overview of these risks as well as cyber security recommendations for businesses and individuals.
